EFKA, a specialist in bespoke fabric frames, announced the strategic acquisition of DPI UK in October 2023, marking a significant expansion in the UK market. This move aligns with EFKA's mission to bolster its position as the European market leader in aluminium textile frames.

DPI UK Background

DPI UK's core business involves manufacturing aluminium frames, LED lightboxes, and structures specifically designed for tensioned fabric displays for trade customers. As leaders in this rapidly emerging sector, DPI UK's expertise in specialist aluminium frames and lightboxes is unparalleled. Their focus on push-fit fabric solutions has revolutionised the display and retail industry, making them unique and masters of their trade.

About EFKA

Founded in 1888, EFKA began as a wholesaler in wooden frames. Since 2009, the company has focused on producing aluminium textile frames, offering both illuminated and non-illuminated options in a variety of shapes and sizes. EFKA serves the sign, exhibition, and retail interior markets, supplying partners such as large format printers, interior designers, sign makers, and stand builders across 27 countries.

Strategic Acquisition

EFKA's CEO, Ids Boersma, said about the acquisition: "We are delighted to welcome the team from DPI into our organisation. This acquisition marks an important chapter in our strategy to further strengthen EFKA's position as the European market leader."

Paul Tomlinson, the former owner of DPI UK, will continue to lead UK operations, bringing over a decade of experience to ensure continuity and expertise in the market. Paul commented, "This is a great opportunity for DPI and EFKA to further develop the UK market. We are confident that our customers will benefit from the combined expertise and increased capacity that this acquisition will provide."

Enhanced Value

The acquisition is set to enhance EFKA’s services and products in the UK through several key differentiators:

  • Extensive Product Range: A broader variety of fabric frames and lightboxes.
  • Local Production: Increased production capabilities within the UK with larger support and resources from the Netherlands.
  • Large Stock Quantities: Improved inventory levels ensuring complete availability.
  • Shorter Delivery Times: Even faster delivery as they will be the UK's largest stockist of Aluminium Textile Frames.
  • High Service Levels: Continued commitment to exceptional customer service and faster turnaround times.

Technological / Operational Advancements

EFKA plans to integrate their technology systems including an eCommerce functionality on their website, providing a seamless online shopping experience for customers. Additionally, plans to expand into larger premises include a full-scale showroom for customers to visit and explore product offerings in person.

Future Plans

DPI UK's reputation for outstanding customer service will continue, ensuring their existing customer base receives the same high levels of service and supply that has established them as UK industry leaders in Tension Fabric Frames. The integration of EFKA and DPI UK will be fully completed throughout 2024, with the EFKA brand continuing to see significant growth and presence in the UK market.
